Xiaomi presented its Xiaomi Buds 3 on Tuesday, new noise-reducing wireless headphones capable, according to the manufacturer, of delivering HiFi quality.
In addition to the MIUI 13 update, the new Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12X or the Xiaomi Watch S1 connected watch, the Chinese manufacturer presented a new pair of wireless headphones on Tuesday. These Xiaomi Buds 3 are in fact positioned at the entry level of the Chinese manufacturer, below the Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro.
In fact, they are wireless earbuds to ensure a good fit of the headphones in the ears as well as a good voice capture. The headphones are also equipped with silicone tips to ensure passive isolation. This is also complemented by active noise reduction which, according to Xiaomi, reduces outside noise by up to 40 dB. Three levels of active noise reduction are also available.
Design-wise, the headphones are available in two colors, black or white, weighing 52 grams, including the case, and 4.6 grams per earphone. The case also supports USB-C charging, but not wireless charging. Speaking of battery, the Buds 3 can run for 7 hours without ANC and the box allows you to recover a total of 32 hours of use. The headphones are also IP55 certified, ensuring protection against splashes.
A sound qualified as Hi-Fi by Xiaomi
Xiaomi also does not indicate any Bluetooth audio codec, which suggests that the headphones only have SBC and AAC, the most common on the market. However, the manufacturer claims that its headphones are capable of delivering sound. “Hi-fi” thanks to its dynamic transducers that offer a harmonic distortion of less than 0.07%. However, it should be remembered that Bluetooth alone does not allow to obtain high fidelity sound due to the strong compression caused by the wireless standard, as efficient as the manufacturer’s transducers. A fortiori with AAC and SBC codecs that do not allow offering a bit rate higher than 400 kb / s.
The Xiaomi Buds 3 are currently only released in China, where they are priced at 499 yuan, or 70 euros. The manufacturer has not yet announced availability for France.
