Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, has introduced this 86-inch 4K TV. If you make a lot of concessions, it is displayed at an attractive price.
You surely know Xiaomi for its aggressive pricing tactics. During its Redmi Note 12 launch conference, its sub-brand Redmi lived up to this reputation by unveiling a 4K TV that on paper looks like excellent value for money. This is the Redmi X86.
As the name suggests, it is an 86-inch slab, or 1.92m by 1.1m. If Xiaomi did not specify what technology it is based on, we expect an updated LCD screen in 120 Hz MEMC. Xiaomi promises a panel with an average delta E around 3, that is, impeccable color fidelity. Of course, we will have to wait for the tests to decide on this point, since the values proposed by the manufacturers can sometimes be very far from our own tests.
Small data sheet and low price
The Redmi X86 has a 97.3% screen-to-body ratio and two HDMI 2.1 ports. It also incorporates 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory. The minimum of the minimum to bring the price as low as possible.
To complete the owner’s tour, let’s mention the presence of two speakers of 10 watts each, compatible with DTS-HD. On the other hand, you’ll need to ignore Dolby Atmos, as well as any form of HDR (not Dolby Vision or HDR 10+).
Concessions are therefore present, but this is reflected in the price. In fact, the Redmi X86 costs 4,999 yuan, or around 690 euros without taxes. We do not know at the moment if Xiaomi intends to launch it in France, or at what price.
