Xiaomi has formalized its latest “iconic killers”, which will be available in China from December 31st.
After giving an appointment last week, Xiaomi presented its range Xiaomi 12 this December 28. Like the 11T series, introduced last September, the mention “Mi” is missing. The new smartphones, which succeed the Mi 11, are three: the 12, the 12 Pro and the 12X. High-end, the first two devices are equipped with the latest Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which relies on photographic capabilities or even artificial intelligence applications. This processor comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. This is one of the only commonalities between the two smartphones.
Xiaomi 12 Pro, an ambitious smartphone
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is obviously the best equipped. It has a 6.73-inch AMOLED screen, displaying a resolution of 3200 × 1400 pixels, with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus, it also offers a maximum brightness of 1,500 nits. The display also benefits from HDR10 + support, as well as Dolby Vision and DisplayMate A + certification. On the photo side, the 12 Pro has three 50-megapixel cameras on the back. You will also be entitled to the new Sony IMX707 ultra-wide sensor for the main lens. This sensor is compatible with a x2 telephoto and an ultra wide angle. Finally, the 12 Pro has a 4600 mAh battery that supports fast charging at 120 W. You can also count on wireless charging at 50 W, unlike the 11T Pro.
This high-end smartphone will be offered in four different colors (black, blue, purple and glass). The 8/128 GB version will be sold for 4,699 yuan (around 650 euros), the variant with 256 GB will sell for 4,999 yuan (around 690 euros) and the latest with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage at a price of 5,399 yuan (about 750 euros).
Xiaomi 12, a somewhat more affordable top-of-the-range model
Like the Pro, the Xiaomi 12 also has a Dolby Vision and DisplayMate A + certified AMOLED screen, with support for HDR10 +. However, it is a bit smaller: 6.28 inches, for a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels. The refresh rate is the same as that of the Pro model. The Xiaomi 12 is also equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery, but the fast charge only amounts to a speed of 67 W. It can also be charged wirelessly (50 W) . On a photographic level, this model offers as many rear cameras as the Pro. The 50 megapixel main lens is from Sony (IMX766, f / 1.88). The other two sensors display 13 megapixels (f / 2.4) for the ultra wide angle and 5 megapixels for the “telemacro” (f / 2.4).
The Xiaomi 12 will be offered in the same colors as the Pro model, for a starting price of 3,699 yuan for the 8/128 GB version (around 513 euros). The 256GB version will cost 3,999 yuan (about 550 euros) and the 12/256 GB variant will be sold at 4,399 yuan (about 610 euros).
Xiaomi took advantage of his conference to unveil a lighter model: the 12 X. Its characteristics are identical to those of the Xiaomi 12, except for the processor (Snapdragon 870 5G) and the battery, which does not require recharging without a cable. It will be sold in the same colors starting at 3,199 yuan, or almost 445 euros. Finally, the three smartphones in the range inaugurate MIUI 13, the new version of Xiaomi’s interface. Its release date in France has yet to be revealed.
