Xiaomi 13 Pro: a great photosensor for the future high-end

Xiaomi wants to take full advantage of the IMX989 photosensor designed in collaboration with Sony! After the 12S Ultra, the component should be integrated into the 13 Pro, the manufacturer’s future top of the range.

One of the peculiarities of the 12S Ultra presented a few months ago by Xiaomi was the presence of a new Sony photosensor, the IMX989. The component measures 1 inch, which allows it to absorb more light. Therefore, the photos taken with this sensor have more detail and there is more depth data, which improves the images in portrait format. Finally, this sensor also makes it easy to shoot in low light conditions.

On paper, the IMX989 has it all, and especially Xiaomi. In fact, the manufacturer has invested 7 million dollars in the design of the sensor, on a par with Sony. If other manufacturers are invited to integrate it into their smartphones, they will have to stick their hands in their pockets! Meanwhile, Xiaomi is taking advantage of it and after the 12S ultra, the next one arrives flagship who should benefit.

Xiaomi has not confirmed anything yet, but the leaker Yogesh Brar lists a series of specifications that fit well with the 13 Pro. We would thus find ourselves with the famous 50 megapixel sensor, accompanied for the occasion by an ultra wide angle and a telephoto lens, each one of 50 megapixels. The smartphone would have a 6.7-inch (2K) LTPO display and would be powered by Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

At the front, there would be a 32-megapixel photographic sensor. The battery would have a capacity of 4,800 mAh, with a fast charge of 120W. It would ship from 8 to 12GB of RAM and 128 to 512GB of storage. And all under Android 13, with the MUI 14 overlay. Xiaomi should present its game early next year.
