A massive leak confirms that the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro have some pleasant surprises in store. These smartphones should offer very solid data sheets. The most ambitious model would be equipped with a 200-megapixel photo sensor and the best Qualcomm chip of the moment.
Xiaomi wants to end the year in style and outshine its competitors. After the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro (read our test), the manufacturer is preparing “T” iterations that look promising: the Xiaomi 12T and 12 Pro. For those unfamiliar with the Chinese giant’s methods, these “T” versions are slightly less premium variants of the flagship models. Specifically, they seek to position themselves as “killer flagships” by integrating the latest technologies of the moment; at a price that doesn’t fly away.
In 2022, Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro will be compatible with Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro… as well as the 12S series. The latter is not officially available in France, but we were able to test its flagship: the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The WinFuture site, renowned for its reliability, says that it has obtained a lot of information about future Xiaomi devices and that the Chinese giant is preparing heavy things.
Both phones would have a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen showing a definition of 2712 x 1220 pixels ; with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The other common point refers to the battery, whose capacity should reach 5000mAh. It is also rumored that fast charging could arrive 120W on the 12T and 12T Pro. Xiaomi would continue to distinguish itself from Samsung or Apple by providing an AC adapter.
Xiaomi 12T Pro: a 200 Mpx sensor and the best Qualcomm processor
The Xiaomi 12T Pro, the highest-end model, would stand out in two essential points: its chip and its photographic unit. As in the 12S models, the manufacturer would opt for a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flanked by 8 to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. At the time of writing, this is Qualcomm’s best processor.
The other advantage of the 12T Pro would be to look for its imposing photoblock. This smartphone would carry a 200 megapixel main sensor, with an aperture of f/1.69. The Xiaomi 12T Pro would be the first smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer to integrate said photographic module. On the other hand, it would not be the first since Motorola has already launched its Edge 30 Ultra.
To accompany this sensor, we would find a 8 megapixel ultra wide angle (f/2.2) and a lens 2 megapixel macro. The latter should not be particularly useful. For selfies and video calls, a 20-megapixel front camera would be found.
Xiaomi 12T: a 108 Mpx sensor and a MediaTek SoC
The “classic” 12T would take up the main lines of the Pro model, with two major differences. The first refers to the chip with the presence of the MediaTek Dimension 8100, instead of a Snapdragon SoC. This chip promises good performance, although it seems 15-20% lower than the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Xiaomi would add 8 GB of RAM and 128 to 256 GB of storage.
On the photo side, the Xiaomi 12T would settle for a “only” main sensor 108 megapixels (f/1.65). On paper, it’s still very impressive, while the brand would continue to offer a 8 megapixel ultra wide angle and a module 2 megapixel macro. The 20-megapixel front camera would still be there for selfies.
The presentation of the Xiaomi 12T is getting closer
This up-and-coming duo intends to focus on value for money and would offer a plastic chassis. The absence of more premium materials may surprise and would be justified by the desire not to increase the bill too much; despite inflation.
Both smartphones will work under Android 12 with the MIUI 13 overlay. The Xiaomi 12T would launch from €649versus €849 for the “Pro” variant. Also according to WinFuture, they should be formalized during the week.
