The firm Canalys presented its ranking of the main smartphone vendors in France. And the battle rages…
As the year 2022 is just beginning for smartphone manufacturers, Canalys takes stock of 2021. The firm analyzes the situation of the French market, an opportunity for us to know who are the main players in France. Xiaomi was quick to share the report and it’s not really a surprise. The Chinese brand confirms its good health in our region, ranking second.
If the manufacturer is delighted with its good figures, this is not the only element to remember. As a reminder, Canalys is more interested in smartphone deliveries than sales; an element that can explain the differences with other research companies. If we are to believe this ranking, Samsung is still in the lead with a 27% market share to overtake Xiaomi. However, the trends are reversed and the South Korean giant is far from experiencing the same dynamic. The year 2021 is marked by a drop of 31% in one year, compared to +45% of its rival.
Samsung and Xiaomi run ahead
We recall that Xiaomi had already managed to overtake Samsung during the summer of 2021. If the Chinese manufacturer ran out of steam at the end of the year, it seems more than ever capable of tickling Samsung in the coming months. As a reminder, Xiaomi gives itself three years to overtake the essential number 1 in the smartphone market.
Behind this shock duo, Apple invites itself again and again to the podium. Despite a limited range, the iPhone is not that far behind the competition, capturing 22% of the French market. The apple brand, however, experienced a setback with a drop of 11%.
Apple hangs on, Oppo makes rapid progress
On the contrary, Oppo stands out as the fourth major player in the French market. Still far from the podium with a market share of 8%, the Chinese manufacturer registered an increase of 71%. This is the strongest advance in the top 5 for Oppo, which will soon present its Find X5 Pro. Finally, the surprising Wiko resists and manages to reach 5% market share. The Sino-French brand has even managed to stabilize (-3%) in a market disturbed by component shortages.
On the side of the absentees, Huawei remains embarrassed by the measures taken by the United States. Now we are waiting to find out if the launches of the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket in France will help the Chinese giant to raise its head. Without Google services, this is unlikely and is likely to be taken advantage of by the competition.
