Xiaomi has presented its Watch S1 and Watch S1 Active, two watches with an elegant design and an announced autonomy of more than a week.
As expected, Xiaomi took advantage of the launch of the Xiaomi 12, 12X and 12 Pro in France, this Thursday, to also announce the arrival of its new connected watches, the Xiaomi Watch S1 and Watch S1 Active.
The first of its two striking is not new since it had already been presented in China at the end of December, during the initial presentation of the manufacturer’s new smartphones. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Active was finally presented this week in a global version and will therefore also arrive in France.
As a reminder, the two watches share most of their technical characteristics, with similar components from one model to another. They are distinguished above all by their use and their finishes. While the Xiaomi Watch S1 plays the elegance card, with a bezel-less stainless steel case and included leather strap, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Active positions itself more as a sports watch. Therefore, it incorporates a larger face with a large bezel around the screen, giving the impression of a more solid watch, especially suitable for hiking. The watches are also water resistant up to 5 ATM.
Watches with similar characteristics
Both watches have a round screen of 1.43 inches in diameter with AMOLED technology, a refresh rate of 60 Hz, a definition of 466 x 466 pixels and a density of 326 pixels per inch. They also feature dual-band GPS tracking for greater accuracy in tracking your exercise route, and of course an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor, and oximeter. Enough to analyze not only the number of steps, but also the heart rate, the level of oxygen in the blood or the quality of sleep. As for activity tracking, both watches are also capable of tracking up to 117 sports.
Equipped with a microphone and speaker, Xiaomi watches can also be used to receive and make calls. Note, however, that the two connected watches are not equipped with Wear OS, Google’s operating system, but are based on MIUI Watch, the manufacturer’s home interface, based on RTOS.
Regarding autonomy, the Chinese manufacturer has embedded the same 470 mAh battery in its two watches. Enough to allow, on paper, up to 12 days of autonomy in “normal” use and up to 24 days in energy savings.
